ChatGPT's iCloud Mail plugin vs. one connector for all your inboxes

4 min readBy Fezola

Short answer: if you only use ChatGPT and only have an iCloud mailbox, the built-in iCloud Mail plugin that ChatGPT launched on 27 October 2026 is probably all you need. If you also have Gmail or a mailbox on your own domain, want to use iCloud in Claude, or want one search across all of them, you need a connector that holds several mailboxes, such as Fezola.

What the ChatGPT iCloud plugin does

As of November 2026, ChatGPT can connect to iCloud Mail and iCloud Calendar through two separate plugins. From the launch coverage (Digital Trends, Clubic):

  • It is available on all ChatGPT plans, including Free, on the web, desktop and iOS.
  • You connect it with an Apple app-specific password, created in your Apple Account security settings (two-factor authentication must be on).
  • Mail: search messages, summarize conversations, draft replies, and send emails.
  • It only reaches iCloud Mail (@icloud.com, @me.com, @mac.com). Gmail or Outlook accounts you added to Apple's Mail app are not reachable through it.

That is a good deal for many people: it is free, built in, and takes a minute.

Where it stops

The plugin answers one question well: "what is in my iCloud mailbox?" It does not cover these cases:

  • Other mailboxes. A Gmail, a work mailbox or an address on your own domain is a different connection, or no connection at all.
  • One search across mailboxes. "Find the invoice from the printer" has to be asked once per source.
  • Claude. Claude has no built-in iCloud Mail connector as of November 2026.
  • Sending by mistake. The plugin can send. If you prefer an assistant that can only prepare drafts, you need something else.

One connector for all your inboxes

Fezola is a hosted MCP connector. You add each mailbox once on the Fezola website, then paste one URL into Claude or ChatGPT. Everything below is checked in Fezola's code.

ChatGPT iCloud plugin Fezola
iCloud Mail Yes Yes, with an app-specific password (imap.mail.me.com, smtp.mail.me.com)
Gmail, Yahoo, OVH, IONOS, Gandi, any IMAP No Yes
Several mailboxes in one search No Yes, each result names its account
Works in Claude No Yes
Works in ChatGPT Yes, all plans Yes, paid plans (custom connectors need developer mode)
Sending Can send, per the launch coverage Drafts only by default
Google Chat and Telegram No Yes, read-only
Price Included Free for 2 sources, Pro $9 per month

Three details that come from the code:

  • search_messages searches one mailbox or all of them at once, and every result carries its account (accountLabel, accountEmail).
  • reply_draft saves the draft in the mailbox that received the message, with that mailbox's address as the sender. send_message exists but is off by default on the server.
  • get_attachment reads PDF, Word, text and image attachments.

Which one should you use?

Your situation Use
Only iCloud, only ChatGPT The built-in plugin
iCloud plus Gmail or another mailbox Fezola
iCloud in Claude Fezola (Claude has no built-in iCloud connector)
You want to approve every send yourself Fezola (drafts only)
You are on the free ChatGPT plan and want a custom connector The built-in plugin for iCloud, because custom connectors need a paid plan

You can also use both: keep the plugin for quick iCloud questions in ChatGPT and Fezola when you need the whole picture.

Add iCloud to Fezola in five minutes

  1. In your Apple Account, open the security settings and create an app-specific password.
  2. Create a free Fezola account, open Sources and add a mailbox. Choose iCloud, enter your address and the app-specific password, and click Test the connection.

  4. Approve the access and ask: "What came into iCloud and Gmail today that needs an answer?"

Step by step, including the Apple part: how to use iCloud Mail in Claude. For several mailboxes together, see all your inboxes in Claude, and for the security side, is it safe to connect your email to an AI?. If you wonder how the connector idea works, what is an email MCP server explains it in two minutes.
